COMPONENTS
○ Human Rights:
The project emphasizes the fundamental human right to shelter and dignity for all individuals, including street dwellers. By providing safe and secure housing, it upholds the right to adequate housing as recognized by international human rights standards. This aspect benefits street dwellers by offering them a sense of security and stability, which are essential for their physical and mental well-being.
○ Public Health:
Addressing homelessness is crucial for public health as it reduces the risk of communicable diseases and improves overall community health. By providing shelter, access to healthcare services, and hygiene facilities, the project contributes to the well-being of both street dwellers and the general public. It also helps in reducing the burden on public health systems by preventing the spread of diseases among vulnerable populations.
○ City Safety/Enforcement:
Providing shelter to street dwellers contributes to city safety by reducing the incidence of crimes associated with homelessness, such as theft and substance abuse. It also helps in maintaining law and order by offering a structured environment where individuals can receive support and rehabilitation. This aspect benefits both the street dwellers and the general public by creating a safer and more secure city environment.
○ City Aesthetics:
The project aims to improve the aesthetic appeal of the city by reducing the presence of makeshift shelters and debris associated with street dwelling. By providing proper housing and amenities, it enhances the overall appearance of the city and promotes a cleaner and more organized urban environment. This benefits not only the street dwellers but also the general public by creating a more attractive and livable city.
