Yuva Vigyan is a transformative digital literacy program designed to empower senior citizens above 60 years of age with essential technology skills. Developed as a collaborative initiative between St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam, and the Center of Excellence for Developing Age-Friendly Communities (CEDAC), Kochi, Yuva Vigyan aims to bridge the digital divide and enable older individuals to navigate the digital world with confidence.

Our vision

At Yuva Vigyan, we envision a future where every senior citizen has the knowledge and skills to harness the power of technology for personal enrichment and societal contribution. We believe that digital literacy is not just about using devices and software, but about unlocking new opportunities, connecting with loved ones, and staying informed and engaged in the digital age.

Program Highlights

  • Basic Computer Operations: Participants start with learning fundamental computer operations, including using the keyboard and mouse, understanding symbols and icons, and navigating the desktop.

  • Application Familiarity: The program introduces participants to various applications essential for daily life, such as WhatsApp, Google Play store, Gmail, YouTube, PC settings, Google Maps, Uber, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Inter-Generational Learning: Yuva Vigyan provides a unique opportunity for senior citizens to engage in inter-generational learning, where they receive personalized training and support from college students and faculty members.

  • Ongoing Support: Participants receive ongoing support and guidance throughout the program to ensure they can apply their new skills confidently in real-life situations.
